About Us

What can I expect when I attend a Family Centre?

Registering with the Family Centres

On your first visit to a Family Centre you will be asked to complete a registration form. This will register you for all the Southend Family Centres, you will only need to complete a new one if we need to update your details.

Signing in for your session or appointment

We will ask you to sign in for every session. It is very important everybody who uses the centre has signed in, this is what we will use to ensure everyone is evacuated in the event of a fire. We also log our session attendance to track Centre use.

Prams and buggies

Each Centre has a buggy park provided, we do not allow travel systems into the delivery rooms due to health and safety. We do have limited buggy locks at each centre, please speak to reception to borrow one or you are welcome to use your own.

Parking

The Family Centres do not have on site parking. Please use on road parking in the surrounding areas.

Strictly no phones

We do not allow mobile phones in our delivery rooms due to safeguarding.

Food and drink

Due to allergies please do not bring food into the delivery rooms. We do not allow hot drinks due to health and safety.

Breastfeeding Friendly

Our Family Centres are UNICEF Baby Friendly accredited. All our staff are L3 trained and are happy to offer support or signpost you to further support with feeding your baby. If you would like to breastfeed somewhere more privately in the Centre please speak to a member of staff who will try and accomodate you.

No smoking or vaping

All our Family Centres have a strict no smoking, vaping or e-cigarettes policy. Please do not smoke or vape outside the front of the Family Centres.
